Tooth Extraction and Implant Cost: What to Include

Tooth extraction and implant cost should cover removal of the existing tooth and the complete replacement, including the final crown. In our calculator, one extraction adds an illustrative $150–$650 to the $3,000–$6,000 single-implant base, giving $3,150–$6,650 before other services.

Plan your budget: Use our Dental Implants Cost Calculator to explore treatment and location scenarios. Confirm all fees with your dental provider.

Ask which type of extraction is quoted

A fee should describe the specific tooth and planned procedure. If the dentist expects a more involved removal, the estimate should reflect that. Ask whether imaging, local anesthesia, review appointments and any additional site preparation are part of the extraction price.

Do not assume immediate replacement

Having an extraction and an implant in one treatment plan does not mean both occur on the same day. Ask the clinician to explain the proposed sequence, the temporary tooth arrangements and the point at which the final crown is delivered. An advertisement for same-day teeth may describe a different product or stage.

Keep extraction, graft and implant lines separate

If grafting is recommended, request its price separately unless it is clearly included in a package. For several extractions, count the teeth being removed rather than the implants being placed. The two quantities can differ considerably, especially for a full arch.

Plan around payment milestones

Ask what is payable at removal, implant placement and restoration delivery. Check how a change in the clinical plan affects a deposit and whether a temporary appliance has a separate charge. A clear schedule helps you compare the total cost and the cash needed at each stage.

Frequently asked question

Can I estimate extraction costs by multiplying the number of implants?

No. Count the teeth to be removed from the written treatment plan; implant count and extraction count are not necessarily equal.

This guide is for budgeting and quote comparison. Calculator amounts are illustrative assumptions, not verified market averages, a diagnosis or a guaranteed price. Your clinician and any insurer must confirm the treatment and costs.
