Confirm the type of imaging
A standard dental X-ray and a CBCT examination are different services. Ask the practice to identify the scan, the area covered and whether the quoted fee includes interpretation. Do not assume a promotional examination package includes every image needed for treatment planning.
Check whether the scan is bundled
Ask whether the consultation price includes the scan, whether the imaging charge is credited if you proceed, and whether it is refundable if you do not. Record these terms before paying a deposit. An included scan should not be added a second time in the calculator.
Ask about records and transfer
Request information about obtaining your imaging records and sharing them with another treating dentist. Ask that dentist whether existing images are usable before booking another scan. Suitability and the need for repeat imaging should be decided by the clinicians involved.
Understand what the calculator covers
The tool adds one scan allowance rather than modeling different fields of view or multiple visits. If the plan includes additional imaging, use the provider’s actual fees. A cost estimate should not determine whether imaging is clinically indicated.
